Information in a RIS file is formatted as two-character codes followed by a given value e.g. "PY - 2016" denoting that 2016 is the year of publication. Other information can be found in a RIS file including the title of work, author(s) information, and page number. A RIS file can be easily opened and edited using plain text editors.
